Thank Your Senator for a Bold Vision for Trails

The Senate’s Connecting America’s Active Transportation System Act is a major leap forward for our transportation future. This bipartisan bill provides $2.5 billion in direct funding over five years to help communities and regions across the country build connected active-transportation systems to ensure people can get where they want to go safely by foot, bike or wheelchair.

As co-sponsors of the bill, Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) know that funding trails and active transportation networks just make sense. Trail and active transportation projects create more jobs per dollar than other types of transportation infrastructure. In fact, our research shows that these investments are already creating returns of more than $34 billion annually in health, climate and economic benefits around the country. And that return could be quadrupled as more communities have the opportunity to connect their active transportation systems.

Act now: Thank your senator for introducing the Connecting America’s Active Transportation System Act—a bold vision for our transportation future.

Personalized messages work best. Be sure to tell your elected officials why connected trail and active transportation networks are important to you.
